Welcome to Kent P&R′s home on the web!

    Welcome to the Kent CT Park and Recreation website. This is an official website of the Kent Park and Recreation Commission, the volunteer commission charged with oversight of the town’s recreational programs. Kent Park and Recreation develops and oversees comprehensive year-round offerings, including youth sports and camps as well as classes, outings and events for community members of all ages.
    Information about Park and Recreation programs is available by clicking the “Programs” tab to the left. Answers to general questions are available by clicking “Frequently Asked Questions” tab on the left. Parents and players will find detailed information about specific sports teams by selecting the “Sports” menu above. Seniors can access information about programs designed specifically for them by choosing the “Seniors” menu at top.
    The website also contains registration forms, links to other community and regional groups as well as contact information for Kent CT Park and Recreation. Per Connecticut General Statute 19a-77, Kent Park and Recreation is required to disclose that our services and programs are not licensed by the State Office of Early Childhood.

Halloween Safety Campaign

The Halloween Safety Campaign, sponsored by Kent Park and Recreation and Kent Lions Club in cooperation with the Kent Resident State Trooper, returns October 31 when glow-in-the-dark necklaces will be distributed free to trick-or-treaters of all ages starting at 5 p.m. on North Main Street, adjacent the Kent Memorial Library. The green glow of the necklaces helps to make pedestrians walking in Kent neighborhoods on Halloween more visible to motorists. The safety campaign letter is available on the website under "Forms."

Figure Skating Lessons

Park and Recreation will sponsor Figure Skating Lessons for boys and girls age 6 and up in three four-week sessions; register for one or more. Sessions are Saturday mornings, 7-8, Kent School ice rink as follows: November 18 , December 2, 9, 16 with Joanna Dumitrascu; January 16, 13, 20, 27 with Marika Coolbeth and February 3, 10, 17, 24 with Marika Coolbeth. Boo Bash

BOO BASH is coming October 28, 4:30-6 p.m. - Kent youngsters ages 12 and under: costume parade with prizes, Halloween-themed activities. Details to be announced. Hosted by Kent Center School PTO, Kent Boy Scouts, Kent Park and Recreation, Kent Volunteer Fire Department.

Holiday Ice Skating

Kent Park and Recreation in cooperation with Kent School announces holiday ice skating at the Kent School Ice Rink as follows: Nov. 21, 22, 24: open skate 10 a.m-noon; sticks and pucks, 12:30-2:30 p.m.; Nov. 25: open skate, 12:30-2 p.m.

Also, December 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29: open skate, 10 a.m.-noon; sticks and pucks, 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Park pass is required and can be purchased at the rink ($35/residents; $65 non-residents; $5/person/day). Open skaters must wear hat and skates on the ice; sticks and pucks' participants must wear helmet and skates on the ice.

After-School Program 2017-18

Kent Park and Recreation's After-School Program is open to Kent Center School kindergarten through sixth graders and meets Monday-Friday, 3-5:30 p.m. in the KCS cafeteria, following the KCS calendar. The program handbook and registration forms are available on the website under "Forms."  Youngsters must be registered in order to participate in the program. Scholarship assistance is available to families in need by (confidential) application. Scholarships are provided by the Kent Community Fund. For more information, call 860-927-1003.

Qigong Class

Qigong Class will be offered in collaboration with Kent Park and Recreation Wednesday mornings 9 to 10:30 at the Kent Community House: October 4 through December 27, 2017. The cost is $200 for the 13 classes or $80/month ($20/class). Qigong is a classical method of self-healing rooted in the longevity tradition of old China. No experience necessary. Drop-in participation also is welcome. Registration accepted at class. For more information, contact instructor Christopher Kiely at or call 802-349-2725.

Playing Fields

The rules for the Playing Fields adjacent Kent Center School state that dogs are not allowed on the fields, and playing golf is prohibited on the fields. Kent Park and Rec appreciates your observance of these rules when using the fields.
