Welcome to Kent P&R′s home on the web!

    Welcome to the Kent CT Park and Recreation website. This is an official website of the Kent Park and Recreation Commission, the volunteer commission charged with oversight of the town’s recreational programs. Kent Park and Recreation develops and oversees comprehensive year-round offerings, including youth sports and camps as well as classes, outings and events for community members of all ages.
    Information about Park and Recreation programs is available by clicking the “Programs” tab to the left. Answers to general questions are available by clicking “Frequently Asked Questions” tab on the left. Parents and players will find detailed information about specific sports teams by selecting the “Sports” menu above. Seniors can access information about programs designed specifically for them by choosing the “Seniors” menu at top.

    Park and Recreation offers scholarships, funded by the Kent Community Fund, for its After-School and Camp Kent programs. Application available by speaking with the Park and Recreation director, 860-927-1003.
    The website also contains registration forms, links to other community and regional groups as well as contact information for Kent CT Park and Recreation. Registration forms and other correspondence should be returned the Kent Park and Recreation, P.O. Box 678, Kent, CT 06757.

Emery Park Swimming Area Open

Emery Park, 42 Segar Mountain Road in Kent is open for seasonal swimming daily, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A park pass is required and can be purchased at the park during these hours. Cost is $35 for Kent residents; free for Kent residents ages 65 and older; $65 for non-residents. A day pass also is available at $5/person. The swimming area features a sandy beach area and a spring-fed swimming area, including a water slide. The water is tested by Torrington Area Health District. The park also include a playground, picnic tables and charcoal grills and the Emery Park trailways. For more information, call 860-927-1003.

Camp Kent 2018 Registration

Registration is open for Camp Kent 2018, summer day camp program for youngsters entering grades 1-8 in the fall. The camp program features sports and games, arts and crafts, swimming, field trips, Club Getaway Days and, new this year, a hands-on farming module. Camp will run June 25 through August 17, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Emery Park, 42 Segar Mountain Road. Cost is $105/week for Kent residents and $135/week for non-residents with a $5 discount for sibling(s) attending in the same week. Registration forms, program information available under "Forms." Commission vacancies

The Kent Park and Recreation Commission has an opening for a commission member to fill an unexpired three-year seat. The commission meets the third Monday of the month (mostly), 7 p.m., Kent Town Hall. The commission is charged with oversight of the Town’s recreational programs and two parks. Summer Concerts on the Lawn

Concerts on the Lawn return for summer 2018: July 19: The Regulators; July 26: Carlson Family Band; and August 2, The Joint Chiefs. Concerts are held 6-8 p.m., Kent Town Hall lawn, 41 Kent Green Boulevard. Inclement weather site is Kent Community House, 93 North Main Street. Lego Camps

Slamma-Jamma Basketball Camp

Kent Park and Recreation announces Slamma-Jamma Basketball summer camp July 23-27 for boys and girls entering grades 3 through 9. Camp will meet Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kent Center School, 9 Judd Avenue, Kent. Cost is $165/camper. Register online with Slamma Jamma at slamma-jamma.net. Tai Chi Chuan Classes

Traditional Tung Family Style Tai Chi Chuan classes, taught by Christopher Kiely, are offered in collaboration with Kent Park and Recreation Tuesday evenings, 6-7:30, at the Kent Community House, North  Main Street. Qigong Class

Qigong Class will be offered in collaboration with Kent Park and Recreation Wednesday mornings 9 to 10:30 at the Kent Community House. The cost is $200 for the 3 months or $80/month or $25/class. Qigong is a classical method of self-healing rooted in the longevity tradition of old China. No experience necessary. Playing Fields

The rules for the Playing Fields adjacent Kent Center School state that dogs are not allowed on the fields, and playing golf is prohibited on the fields. Kent Park and Rec appreciates your observance of these rules when using the fields.
