Youth Programs

Figure Skating Lessons with Marika Coolbeth will be offered to  youngsters, ages 6 and up. The 2018 remaining session is February 3, 10, 17, 24, 2018. The program meets Saturday mornings at the Kent School ice rink, Route 341W. Beginning student lessons are 7-7:30 a.m.; intermediate and above lessons are 7:30-8 a.m.; registered students may skate also during the 30 minutes oppose their lesson time. Registration fee is $44/student per session. Students may wear figure or hockey skates and must wear a hat on the ice. Housy Hoops Basketball - open to Region 1 boys in grades 5-8. The program fields teams in the Route 44 travel basketball League Jr. Division for grades 5-6 and Sr. Division for grades 7-8. The program is designed to prepare players for competitive play. For more information, contact Matt Mette, 860-364-1400.

Martial Arts Class, sponsored by USA Martial Arts of Woodbury, a member of the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Karate Federation, meets Mondays at the Kent Community House. A new 10-week session begins Janaury 29, 2018. Ages 7 through adult meet from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Registration fee is $70/10-week session. Martial arts training has been shown to reduce stress, increase confidence, self-discipline, focus and respect in addition to the self-defense benefits. Registration form available under "Forms" and can be returned to the Park and Rec office, Town Hall, or brought to the first class.

Youth Lacrosse Programs: Recreational clinic for Region One girls in grades 1-4; Recreational program for Region One boys in grades 1-4; Girls Lacrosse Club, girls in grades 5-8 meet in the spring, dates for 2018 tba.
