Blue and Gold Summer Camps: Sports camp programs for boys and girls entering grades 5-9 in the fall will be offered during the summer of 2019 at Housatonic Valley Regional High School, 246 Warren Turnpike Road, Falls Village; programs to be announced.
Camp Kent – Park and Rec offers an eight-week summer day camp program open to youngsters who will be entering grades 1-8 in the fall. The 2019 program details will be announced. The program meets Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Emery Park, 42 Segar Mountain Road. The camp day features sports and games, arts and crafts, swimming, Club Getaway Mondays, field trips, Thursday lunch in the park with the Kent Memorial Library and weekly Friday BBQ lunches. Camp registration opens the third Wednesday in May (May 15, 2019) from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Park and Recreation office, town hall. Registration is accepted on a first come, first serve basis with first preference is given to Kent families, next to non-resident families who work in Kent and then non-residents as space permits. Registration policy: $30 of the registration fee is non-refundable for cancellations that can not be filled by other campers. Challenger Soccer Camp - meets in late June (2019 dates to be announced) for boys and girls ages 3 to 14 at Veterans Field, 120 Sharon Station Road, Sharon. Programs include mini soccer and half and full-day. Open to Region One youngsters. Camp flyer will be available in the Kent Park and Recreation office, Town Hall, or register at challengersports.com
Colonial Summer Baseball – Kent Park and Recreation offers summer Colonial Baseball for Kent boys ages 13-16 (age of May 1). Cornwall, Falls Village, Kent, Salisbury and Sharon will partner to form a team. The season runs mid-June through July. Registration fee is $50. Contact Lesly Ferris, 860-927-1003 if interested in playing.
Lunch in the Park – Kent Park and Recreation and the Kent Memorial Library will host weekly story hour during the summer at noon at Emery Park, 42 Segar Mountain Road. The program will meet Thursdays, 2019 dates tba. Families are invited to join the library and Park and Rec for children’s stories. Bring a chair or blanket and a picnic lunch. A park pass is not required.
Learn To Swim Program
Kent Park and Recreation will offer Learn-to-Swim program in 2019; dates tba. Registration will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, with the lifeguards at Emery Park or in the Park and Recreation office, Kent Town Hall.
A Registration Form and park pass are required to register.
Level 1 – Introduction to Water Skills – age 5 and up; student must be able to enter the water on own and listen to the instructor. Water adjustment and basic beginning skills.
Level 2 – Fundamental Aquatic Skills – gives student success with fundamental skills.
Level 3 – Stroke Development – builds on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice.
Level 4 – Stroke Improvement – students will develop confidence in the strokes learned and improve other aquatic skills.
*Please note that the prerequisite for each level is successful demonstration of the skills taught in the preceding level.

Slamma-Jamma Basketball Camp - Camp, open to younsters entering grades 3 through 9, will run in July; dates tba from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kent Center School gym, 9 Judd Avenue, Kent. New this year: register and pay by credit card online. Visit slamma-jamma.net
Summer Little League – open to Kent youngsters age 8 to 11 (as of Aug. 1). The program, which will be a regional team with neighboring towns, will run July through mid-August with weeknight games with regional towns. Registration fee is $45 and includes a team hat and T-shirt.
